Job Description
Our client has an outstanding opportunity for a Business Continuity Manager to direct the development and implementation of a business continuity and disaster resumption program. Additionally, the individual will work closely with the other Emergency Management staff, Technology Services, primary operating departments and business units, government agency partners to develop a sustainable “roll-out” process for administering an organization requirement for BCM that applies to all Departments, units and facilities.
The Business Continuity Manager will be responsible for managing activities and new programs related to the initial development and on-going support and maintenance of the organization’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Spearhead the design and development of a campus-wide BC plan
• Manage day-to-day tasks integral to maintaining a BCM program
• Provide advisory support for the development and maintenance of department/unit BC plans
• Integrate BC efforts and activities with current emergency management (EM) plans and activities, including a to-be-developed Campus Recovery Plan
• Research industrial practices for BC
• Schedule, organize and facilitate BC management team meetings and events
• Scope out and develop the requirements for a centralized BC software throughout the system
• Actively participate in regular emergency management meetings and activities, including as a standing member of the campus-wide Emergency Management Planning Committee (EMPC)
• Provide technical and logistical support in the organization’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as part of the EOC management and support team
• Prepare, direct and manage BC exercises and resolve action items resulting from BC exercise issues
• Develop and manage the program budget
• Be on-call 24/7 for emergency response and EOC activations

Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Management, emergency management or a related field, plus 5 years of work experience managing and maintaining a disaster recovery and business continuity infrastructure in a highly technical environment.
• Advanced understanding of business and financial processes
• Strong IT background with familiarity and experience with distributed systems
• Experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery and/or Emergency Management
• Ability to analyze a variety of disaster recovery requirements and to then research, evaluate, assess and recommend appropriate solution strategies to meet those requirements
• Proven track record as a proactive project lead with strong management skills
• Ability to plan, organize, and direct the testing of emergency response, recovery support, and business continuity procedures
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to include proven ability to interface with managers and staff at all levels within the organization as well as with external vendors and service providers
• Excellent organization skills to include ensuring attention to detail and quality deliverables, effectively managing multiple tasks and setting appropriate priorities
• Demonstrated analytical/problem-solving skills
• Team collaboration skills to include demonstrated success in working effectively across a diverse set of technical and business areas
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal guidance while maintaining deadlines
• Proficiency in the use of software applications, spreadsheets, and/or word processing
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
• Current professional certification in BC or EM (i.e., CBCP, CEM, MBCP)
• Experience working within a complex research-oriented organization
• Master’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Program Management, Information Management or a related field
• NIMS/ICS Department of Homeland Security coursework completion
