This is a full time career position with the UC Davis Health System, Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity Program in the Environmental Health & Safety Department. The position is located in Sacramento with working hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. This classification is not represented by a union.
Responsibilities
The purpose of this new position is to promote and maintain the Business Continuity (BC) Program. Under general direction, the incumbent works independently developing and implementing the business continuity program, including implementation of the web-based business continuity planning tool, UC Ready . The incumbent will provide direction and leadership to prepare the campus to continue its mission (patient care, teaching, research, and service) despite disaster-events. This position works with departments all over campus to assist them in becoming disaster-ready. The incumbent develops and analyzes reports from the web-based tool and conducts annual reviews of the overall readiness of departments. The position also collaborates with various campus partners on various initiatives in the broad field of business continuity and emergency preparedness, as assigned by the Emergency Preparedness Administrator.
Requirements
In-depth knowledge of business continuity and/or emergency preparedness. In-depth knowledge of data base systems development and administration. Demonstrated skills to write and execute custom queries using MS Access database query language to extract system data for analysis and produce custom reports. Must have analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to understand complex processes and their interrelationship; to comprehend technical and analytical information; to generate alternative courses of action; and to set objectives for decisions. Experience managing major change initiatives, bringing diverse needs and constituent groups together to create improvements. Demonstrated organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of healthcare institutions; experience in an academic or healthcare setting desirable. Strong demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Strong demonstrated meeting facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to give engaging, persuasive and effective presentations to large and small audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills. Extensive experience working with spreadsheet, word-processing, presentation, e-mail, and web explorer software required. Knowledge and experience in the design of web-based business processes is preferred. CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) certification is preferred but not required. Master s degree is highly desirable, plus experience in a relevant field. Relevant fields include (but are not limited to) business continuity planning, business administration, disaster management, higher education management, organizational development, education, planning, operations analysis, public administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
