The Senior Disaster Recovery Planner provides leadership and expertise in the development, maintenance and testing of domestic and international Information Technology (I/T) Disaster Recovery Programs and processes across the enterprise, on both mainframe and distributed platforms:
• Responsible for defining and implementing common practices across all the organization’s I/T locations to achieve synergy and add value.
• Assess, develop, test and implement policies and procedures to protect data and activities of the organization’s I/T operations in the event of a disaster or emergency.
• Create corporate awareness and enhance the skills of other corporate partners who participate in developing, implementing, maintaining, and executing the Disaster Recovery Plans.
• Primary objectives are that business units can continue to manage assets, satisfy our regulatory framework objectives and maintain our presence in the market place.
• Coordinating development, implementation and maintenance of all I/T Disaster Recovery Plans across the enterprise for both domestic and international sites. Develop, implement and manage programs to ensure that the operation of critical business processes and product/service capabilities meet and exceed business unit and customer requirements. Ensure that capabilities and requirements are measured, constantly confirmed and correctly aligned.
• Identify impact resulting from disruptions and disaster scenarios that can affect domestic and international operations. Assess strategies that can be used to quantify and qualify such impacts. Establish critical functions, their recovery priorities, and inter-dependencies so that recovery time objectives can be met.
• Determine and guide the selection of alternative business recovery operating strategies for business and information technologies within the recovery time objective while maintaining the organization’s critical functions.
• Work with Change Control and other technology management and staff to assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant). Map processes to resources to clarify current status and help design suitable mitigation.
• Monitor programs to be in compliance with governing/auditing guidelines. Ensure corporate business continuity and disaster recovery standards meet contractual obligations of customer/client base.
• Assist business Sales Departments in providing business continuity and disaster recovery documents and evidence to support the existence of a corporate program in the Request For Proposal (RFP) process.
• Travel 25%
4+ years of progressively more responsible experience in Business Continuity and/or Disaster Recovery. Participated in technology based recovery exercises with in-depth understanding of various components in relation to overall goals and objectives.
• 3+ years of Project Management experience
• 3+ years of Business Analysis experience
• 2+ years experience with any fundamental process methodologies.
• 5+ years of progressively more responsible experience in Systems Application Development, Technology Services and Project Management.
• 2+ years experience in business environment and/or knowledge related to disaster recovery programs.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills in the disciplines of Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery.
• Clear understanding of various technology disciplines relating to mainframe, server, network and data replication methodology as it pertains to business processes.
• Appropriate certifications or willingness to obtain (DRII, CBCP, MBCP).
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Audit or related discipline; or equivalent experience.
