Primary Purpose
The Senior Director will be responsible for providing expert leadership, oversight, guidance and management expertise in business continuity practices for multiple regions and / or business functions. They will ensure consistent implementation of business continuity practices by applying the client's Business Continuity Policy & Standards. They will provide subject matter expertise to regions for the creation, planning, maintenance, testing, training and execution of BC plans. This professional will provide oversight for the reporting of BCP activities and adequacy of business unit contingency plans for critical business areas of operations. The Senior Director will provide subject matter expertise to senior management in the identification, classification and enhancement of proposed contingency strategies to mitigate risks associated with business interruptions.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in coordinating, assessing, developing and communicating Corporate BCP Program initiatives to assigned Business Unit(s) or Region(s)
- Provide periodic metrics and reporting to Senior management on the status of preparedness for Business Unit BCP activities
- Provide guidance and direction in any matters concerning the interpretation and application of the client's Business Continuity Program policies, standards, best practices and BC planning software
- Ensure CMPs, BIAs, BRPs and ERPs support critical business functions. This may include review of third party service providers
- Provide subject matter expertise to Senior management in the alignment of recovery strategies with Business Impact Assessment results
- Participate in validating BC tests / exercises for the region
- Liaison to other regional / local entities (i.e. HR, Legal Facilities, Security, ITG). Work with the senior management to ensure that the local business recovery practices align with regional regulatory requirements or business functions
- Support business units with the application of best practices for Crisis Management and Automated Call Tree Notification Procedures; Corporate Crisis Management Coordination and Exercises; Site Risk Assessments; Liaison to local regulatory / external entities; Perform Business Unit Crisis Management Training
- Work with Business Units in the identification of business recovery coordinators who will perform BC plan maintenance and updates for their respective business areas
- Work with the business unit to establish a Business Recovery Testing Program to ensure that specified objectives are defined, tested and documented
- Ensure that significant gaps identified during plan maintenance testing / exercises are aligned to the BCP Policy and Standards and tracked to resolution

Minimum Qualifications
Core Competencies

- Adept at working in a multi-faceted decentralized organization
- Strong written, and verbal communication skills, effective presentation skills to multiple levels of management
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in enterprise-wide projects / initiatives
- Effective working both independently and as a team leader
- Strong analytical skills, ability to define or create processes or workflows
- Travel within the US and overseas will be required (approximately 35%)

Functional and Technical Competencies
- Expertise in development and implementation of Business Continuity Programs
- General knowledge of information technology (networking, operating systems, business applications, web technology, telecommunications)
- Working knowledge of operations risk management frameworks
- Knowledge of regulatory, legislative or industry best practices such as FFIEC, Basel II, NFPA 1600, BCI, National Response Plan (Homeland security NRP)

Education/Training and Certification Requirements
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, risk, information systems or related equivalent experience
- Certified Business Continuity Professional or equivalent certification preferred

Experience
- 10+ years in corporate or regulatory environment including experience with organizational dynamics, relationship management, conflict resolution, and strategic planning
- 8+ years in Business Continuity , IT Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management or related experience
- Knowledge of financial / insurance products or services
- Demonstrated project management experience in diverse cross-functional projects
- Demonstrated experience working in multi-cultural international organizations
