Provide leadership and continual direction to multiple teams to ensure successful implementation of our client’s Crisis Management program, and moderate to highly complex projects related to our client’s Crisis Management program.
Manage plan development and implementation for crisis management, incident management and emergency response plans across the enterprise and ensure linkage for all crisis response and recovery plans. This includes, but is not limited to Crisis and Incident Management oversight and support, pending threat monitoring, early threat response team engagements, event response and emergency response programs. Facilitate the design, development and operating procedures for crisis management centers and emergency operation centers to include locations, standards, equipment and procedures. Negotiate time and gain commitment from business functions to ensure resources are available for process and plan development. Educate business process owners on the structure and methods of our client’s business continuity program as well as their role in that program. Through regular contact, awareness and training, maintain a high level of readiness of the incident response teams. Design and conduct disaster exercises to educate leadership, response and recovery teams as well as validate plans and linkages. Ensure crisis monitoring location/command center readiness, as well as other critical tools necessary for successful response and recovery to anticipated as well as unanticipated threats, regardless of their origin. Report high impact risks, gaps and corrective action plans as programs are developed. Act as a back-up to the Sr. BC manager during crisis events and support other response and recovery teams as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Team with management, internal and external resources to develop disaster/crisis response and recovery programs, to include tools, standards, templates and centers.
2. Partner with business functions and leadership to develop crisis and incident management plans and additional response plans included in our client’s crisis management program. Collaboratively develop, exercise, maintain and monitor viability of these plans.
3. Team with business functions, safety teams, incident management teams and other key partners to identify gaps, risks and corrective action plans for documented response, recovery and contingency plans.
4. Establish and maintain strong partnering relationships with all departments involved in the BCM Program and ensure a fluid and ongoing level of program coordination and communication. Develop and maintain a close working relationship with our client’s information technology and wireless network technology, customer care and retail teams, government affairs representatives, and other critical teams as a key dimension of the business recovery and crisis management process.
5. Develop and lead periodic exercises and table top drills to ensure all aspects of the crisis management program are viable and that team members are properly educated on roles and responsibilities.
6. Provide back-up for to the Sr. Manager role in the response to emergency and crisis events that could or do impact our client’s organization.
7. Assist in analysis, development and maintenance of business continuity tools, templates and documents.
8. Provide leadership and forward focus on best practices and tools for adoption by our client’s Crisis Management program.
9. Act as the liaison between external agencies and our client as it relates to external disaster exercise and response and recovery activities.
10. Assist in determining appropriate engagements with external domestic and international emergency planning and response agencies.

Discretion and Independent Judgement
1. The Crisis Management program of our client is recognized by executive leadership to be important to sustaining the operational integrity and business success of our client. As a function of high importance and organizational visibility with broad cross functional interaction, it is essential that the person in this position exercise a high degree of discretion in designing, selling and implementing the crisis management program in a manner best suited to succeed within our client’s business priorities, operating philosophy, and culture. This position requires a high degree of business acumen and ability to engage and influence the leadership team of our client.
2. Must be adept at crafting and adjusting program processes that best "fit" into a transitional business environment which values an entrepreneurial spirit yet has grown to a point that it increasingly recognizes the need for institutional programs such as Crisis Management. Organizational fitness, perceptibility and sensitivity will be of paramount importance particularly when dealing with the entrepreneurially focused segments of the business population that are not experienced with programs and processes of this nature. This person must also be able to assimilate the Crisis Management program into a diverse range of functional business teams, departments, and groups, and be able to relate to their unique business priorities. Garnering the support of each of the affected business functions is an overall essential element of the Crisis Management program.
3. Crisis Management is a centrally supported program, with a distributed work effort that will require representatives from the affected business functions to assume functional responsibility for their respective response and recovery plans. This will represent an added responsibility beyond their primary job responsibilities. This individual will need to use their project management and interpersonal skills as a communicator, collaborator, motivator and negotiator to achieve results through people who do not report directly to the Crisis Manager.
4. Managing through a crisis situation requires both trained skill sets as well as the ability to make intuitively correct decisions "in the moment" under very stressful and challenging conditions. A calm, reassuring, balanced and decisive disposition is critical to succeeding is situations of this nature. This individual must be prepared to back-up the Sr. Manager during any crisis preparatory or response activities.

Management Authority
1. Interviewing, selecting and training employees

3. Is accountable for the work of a recognized organizational unit
4. Determining and securing the resources and materials needed to perform the work of the unit
5. Over see staff either directly or through matrix management

Education and Experience
1. At least 5 years experience in Crisis Management programs; or Business Continuity Programs where the role included Crisis Management responsibilities required.
2. At least 3 years management level experience in Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management on a corporate level required.
3. Experience in Crisis Management and Emergency Response plan development required,
4. Hands-on experience in actual corporate wide crisis events.
5. At least 2 years wireless telecommunications experience preferred.
6. Experience in using threat monitoring, out-bound communication and other crisis management tools preferred.
7. CBCP or MBCP preferred.
8. 4 year college degree preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Environmental/Physical Demands
Travel required. Extensive PC utilization.
