Position function:
Responsible for creating, executing and maintaining the Business Continuity Program for the company and all of its subsidiaries to ensure disaster recovery, business recovery/resumption and contingency planning. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that the company and affiliate companies are included in the scope of the Business Continuity Programs. This includes defining the program strategy, implementation, testing and maintenance for all business units to maintain customer confidence and the bank’s reputation following natural disasters or other disruptive events.
Primary Accountabilities:
Develop, establishes and executives the disaster preparedness/business continuity program and Contingency Plan to include policies, standards and guidelines consistent with federal government regulatory and corporate requirements. Annually reports the state of the program to the Board of Directors
Provides proactive leadership and management for the Business Continuity Department and is responsible for the management of department employees including staffing, compensation, performance management, training and development, succession planning and affirmative action. Goal is to attract, retain and motivate the team to achieve business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate
Develops, coordinates and conducts training programs, exercises and tests designed to evaluate each Line of Business’ recovery and business contingency plans as well as cross-Line of Business (“LOB”) recovery processes, plans and procedures. Designs and tests failure scenarios from LOB perspectives to ensure that critical resources such as Business Contingency Coordinators, Floor Wardens and Business Recovery Team Leaders respond appropriately and facilities, specialized equipment, IT, etc. perform as planned during the simulation.
Establishes a Business Continuity Committee for the company. Develops the charter and functional responsibility for the committee. Recommends membership of the committee and responsibility of each member.
Coordinates and facilitates the Business Continuity Committee meetings, which is comprised of the corporation’s executive managers who are responsible for the coordination and management of response and recovery efforts prior to, during and after a disaster. Participates in other corporate committees to provide end-to-end analyses and recovery options for all possible disaster scenarios.
Activates the Business Continuity Committee’s first responders and advises the Committee Chair on complete activation after evaluating the emerging event. Ensures all essential personnel, plans and processes are implemented to mitigate damage to physical assets, business disruption, employee injury and loss of life. This position is considered essential for response to disaster situations. Employee is on-call 24 hours day/7 days a week and will be provided a cell phone and/or pager.

Secondary Accountabilities:
Conducts vulnerability risk and business impact analysis assessments for all business units, locations and operations within the corporation.
Demonstrates disaster preparedness and business continuity thought leadership across the corporation by presenting related topics at company sponsored events, developing guidance and aids and by publishing related articles in corporate and external publications.
Communicates with government agencies, vendors and others to coordinate disaster preparedness/business continuity activities and promotes cooperation among various organizations. Ensures the disaster preparedness/business continuity program complies with government regulations, audit recommendations and corporate guidelines.
Performs other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. College degree with formal training at an accredited institution in contingency planning and emergency management. Professional certification in business continuity planning, emergency management or safety desired.
2. Five (5) to seven (7) years in the management of disaster preparedness programs some to which is at the corporate level; ability to work with and understand business unit operations in order to assist with development or appropriate emergency response and business recovery/continuity plans.
3. Comfortable working the complete Microsoft Office suite. Highly versed in emergency response, crisis management and business continuity strategies and methodologies.
4. Possesses effective leadership, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively with all levels of management, staff members, government agencies and vendors.
5. Possesses program management skills and able to conduct training and exercise sessions.
