Continuity Centers has announced the addition of MobileVault data protection services to its Secure Private Cloud Backup offerings. The new service “extends efficient, cost-effective and transformational cloud backup and recovery solutions beyond business walls to mobile computing devices outside the corporate LAN”. InformationWeek has reported that Virginia may lose data from a SAN outage that started in July. Apparently IT operations in Virginia are ‘more or less back to normal’, but Virginia is still working ‘around the clock’ to recover data. Read the story.
Somalia's Al Qaeda-inspired Shebab group has warned Uganda that it will face more terrorist attacks if it does not pull out of Somalia, reports Middle East Online. Uganda said last week it had up to 10,000 troops ready to send to Somalia and only needed foreign logistical assistance to perform the deployment. Read the story.
On 26th August 2010, the Reserve Bank of Fiji commissioned a new business continuity facility, which it terms a ‘business resumption site’. Critical business and IT functions will be switched to the facility should access to the bank’s main building in downtown Suva be disrupted.
