The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Chloride, a UK-based electrical equipment supplier, by the US company Emerson. The Commission concluded that the acquisition would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. The companies' activities overlap in the production and sale of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products and related after-sales services. Read the EU notice in full.
Vision Solution has announced three finalists for the 2010 Double-Take Availability for Windows Legal Customer of the Year award. The winner will be announced during the 2010 ILTA Conference at Vision Solutions' booth 938. The finalists are:
- Lathrop and Gage, the oldest law firm west of the Mississippi River. Lathrop and Gage is using Double-Take Availability to perform full server replication on all key servers in their primary datacenter to their offsite disaster recovery facility.
- Buchalter Nemer, a full-service business law firm that has office locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco and Scottsdale. - Rouse, a leading IP consultancy and law firm that is using Double-Take Availability to safeguard two of its most critical business applications against the risk of downtime. The applications are hosted within the company's UK head office, and accessed from 20 offices in 11 countries throughout the world.

The Contingency Planning Association of the Carolinas, Inc. (CPAC) has announced that Patrick Dunn, principal consultant - disaster recovery and business continuity for Consonus Technologies, Inc., has been invited to become the organization's new vice chairman, a position that has been vacant for over a year. "We are pleased to welcome Patrick to the Board," said CPAC board chairman David Shimberg, CBCP. "He will make a welcome addition."
