Major disaster declared for Arkansas
FEMA has announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of Arkansas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas struck by severe storms and flooding during the period of December 23, 2009, to January 2, 2010. Warning issued for Iowa Spring flooding
Officials from the US National Weather Service have warned that Iowa is at risk for significant flooding this spring after winter storms produced excessive snowfall just before Christmas of 2009 and a January 2010 ice storm. In the wake of the National Weather Service announcement, FEMA is encouraging Iowa businesses to purchase flood insurance now to protect their property from flood damage. www.floodsmart.gov
