Two-day Business Impact Analysis Course
July 20th and 21st from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day, Washington, DC.
The Business Continuity Institute has designed a world-class course that will take the attendee through the steps required to produce a solid business impact analysis program, something which is critical to the overall success of an organization’s entire business continuity effort. The class is highly interactive and features a strong mix of both lecture and hands-on experience. The students will work together to simulate a true BCP project and handle a case study that is designed to meet all types of business and organizational challenges. Upon completion, each attendee will be prepared to contribute to, and even lead, a BCP project with confidence and experience. Supplementing the course, each attendee will leave with an instructional BIA DVD and CD featuring a 20 minute film, comprehensive questionnaire and a set of templates and guidance notes all thoroughly supported by expert industry advice.

Risk register research
Helen Molyneux from Cambridge Risk Solutions Ltd is conducting a survey into Community Risk Registers. The Civil Contingencies Act placed a duty on 'Category 1 and 2 Responders' (the Emergency Services, Local Authorities, NHS, Utilities) to develop a Community Risk Register for each area, usually on County boundaries for areas outside cities. These registers are freely available through various websites, such as local authorities. Helen is trying to understand whether:
- Businesses are aware of the existence of these registers;
- If so, whether they fully understand the contents and definitions;
- Whether the registers are any use in developing understanding of local area risks; and
- If businesses are not aware of the existence of these registers, where they obtain their information on local risks.

Take part in the survey.

This research is purely in the interest of academic research, will not be used for any commercial activity, and is anonymous, unless respondents are happy to contribute to any further qualitative research. The survey is short, and should take less than 5 minutes.
