IBM buys Israeli data recovery and back-up solutions company
Globes has reported that IBM has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli company FilesX Inc. FilesX develops data recovery and back-up solutions for business continuity. IBM intends that the FilesX technology will become part of the Tivoli Storage Manager family of products. Read the full story.

EMC to acquire Iomega
EMC Corporation and Iomega Corporation have announced that they have signed a definitive agreement for EMC to acquire San Diego-based Iomega in a cash tender offer of $3.85 per outstanding share, or approximately $213 million. The addition of Iomega’s products, brand name, route to market and industry expertise will enhance EMC’s reach and focus in the rapidly-growing consumer and small business markets. EMC intends to commence the tender offer in the next two weeks, with completion of the tender offer expected in the second quarter of 2008, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Fujitsu delivers affordable business continuity for medium-sized enterprises
Fujitsu has launched the Fujitsu Affordable Business Continuity Solution powered by ETERNUS, an affordable solution that lets medium-sized businesses protect themselves against outages and lost data. Fujitsu Affordable Business Continuity Solution combines the award-winning ETERNUS storage system, replication software, installation services and bandwidth. Fujitsu Affordable Business Continuity Solution will be made available direct from Fujitsu and through the Fujitsu reseller channel.
