New York Bankers Service Corporation selects Strohl Systems to provide business continuity planning software for members
The New York Bankers Service Corporation, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the New York Bankers Association, has announced that Strohl Systems’s PLANet software has been selected as an NYBSCO endorsed vendor. PLANet is the only online business continuity and disaster recovery planning tool designed specifically for community banks. “We are very pleased with the endorsement from NYBSCO,” said Eric Strohl, president of Strohl Systems. “PLANet is used by over 1,200 financial institutions and has been the solution of choice for many community banks in New York already. Lahore hit by bomb attacks
At least 24 people have died in two bomb attacks in Pakistan's city of Lahore. According to police sources, 20 persons were killed and 150 injured in a powerful blast at the FIA Office at Temple Road here, while four were killed in a blast in Model Town, where three persons were reported injured. It is suspected that the blast at the FIA Office was caused by a suicide bomber using a car loaded with explosive material. The explosion was so powerful that the FIA building was badly damaged while window panes of buildings in the surrounding area including the Mall were shattered. More details

Major disaster declared for Illinois
FEMA has announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for the state of Illinois to help people and communities recover from the effects of severe storms and flooding during the period of January 7, 2008 and continuing. FEMA Director David Paulison said the assistance was authorized under a major disaster declaration issued for the state of Illinois by President Bush. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Iroquois and Livingston counties.
