Economic impacts of fires in the US
NFPA has published a report ‘The Total Cost of Fire in the United States’
which states that for 2005, the total cost of fires to the US economy is estimated at $267-294 billion, or roughly 2 to 2.5% of US gross domestic product. Property loss – reported or unreported, direct or indirect – represents only $12.7 billion of this total. Get the report

Recovery support for flood-affected Queensland businesses
Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle said the Queensland Government would provide a business support program to aid businesses in Emerald and Charleville with flood recovery. Ms Boyle said the new business support program aimed to help eligible small businesses manage the impacts of flooding on their business operations, plan recovery activities and become more resilient for the future.
