SunGard Availability Services appoints Steve Lea as UK financial director
SunGard Availability Services has appointed Steve Lea as UK finance and administration director. Mr. Lea will be responsible for providing the financial expertise to drive SunGard’s position in the information availability industry and he will also oversee SunGard’s ongoing investment in its staff and facilities, including its nationwide portfolio of workplace recovery centres. Mr. Lea is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and began his accountancy career with Bristol Meyers Squibb followed by various finance director roles with leading US based technology companies including Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystems. Prior to joining SunGard, Mr. Lea spent 10 years at RealNetworks Inc, most recently as general manager of finance and operations for Europe. Mr. Lea will report to SunGard Availability Services’ UK managing director and senior vice president Europe, Keith Tilley. www.sungard.co.uk

UK council flood funding payments
Floods Recovery Minister John Healey has announced over £2.5million funding for six authorities across the country, to help them get back on their feet following last summer's floods. The latest payments are:
* Herefordshire Council will receive £1,983,103
* Hereford and Worcester Fire and rescue Authority will receive £134,627
* Scarborough Borough Council will receive £198,582
* Wychavon District Council will receive £156,082
* Gloucester City Council will receive £46,995.
* Stroud District Council will receive £8,673.
