CDC preparedness report highlights progress and challenges
An inaugural report on public health preparedness has been released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It indicates that US states have made significant progress with respect to emergency preparedness, but that significant challenges remain. Read the report.

Major disaster declared for Kentucky
FEMA has announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for the commonwealth of Kentucky to help people and communities recover from the effects of severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding during the period of February 5-6, 2008. http://www.fema.gov/news/event.fema?id=9405

FEMA Region I announces first federal preparedness coordinator
FEMA has announced the selection of Captain W. Russell Webster, USCG (Retired) as FEMA Region I's (New England) first Federal Preparedness Coordinator (FPC). The FPC position is a newly created role that is ‘emblematic of FEMA's acknowledgment of and renewed emphasis on establishing and maintaining relationships with state, federal and tribal partners’. FEMA has designated one FPC for each of its ten regions.

MARSH establishes supply chain risk management practice
Marsh has established a Global Supply Chain Risk Management Practice under the leadership of Gary Lynch. It has also set up Supply Chain Consulting and Supply Chain Risk Intelligence subpractices to be led by Ann Grackin and William McBeath, respectively.
