Atlanta-Based FEMA team in Tennessee to support Federal response to tornado strikes
FEMA has deployed its Atlanta-based Federal Incident Response Support Team (FIRST) to Tennessee. FIRST is supporting federal and state leadership as they coordinate emergency support for the response effort by ensuring that essential communications channels remain accessible and operational. In addition to computers and cell phones, self-contained vehicles include state-of-the-art satellite technology that will provide video-teleconferencing capabilities for federal, state and local emergency response officials.

Major disaster declared for Arkansas
FEMA has announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for the state of Arkansas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding beginning on February 5, 2008, and continuing. http://www.fema.gov/news/event.fema?id=9345

New website lists validated software security tools for Federal IT
A new website launched by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) can help federal information systems managers maintain the security of their systems by providing a list of software security tools that have been validated for correct performance by external testing labs as processing SCAP correctly. http://nvd.nist.gov/scapproducts.cfm
