IAEM elects new president
Larry Gispert, director for Hillsborough County Emergency Management in Tampa, Fla., has been elected as the 2007-2008 president of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). 2006-07 President Michael D. Selves, CEM passed the gavel to Gispert during the Presidential Banquet November 14 in Reno, Nev. Gispert pledged to further develop and continue to strengthen the overall IAEM organization. He plans to facilitate a shift in the organizational structure and have the non-US councils focus on interests in their specific regions while a new IAEM-USA council can focus on issues concerning those US based members.

IFSEC India 2008
IFSEC India has established itself as Asia's definitive security exhibition, attracting over 8,000 visitors. Building on the success of IFSEC India 2007, the event will return to Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 16-18 October 2008. www.ifsecindia.com

Major disaster declared for Indiana

As 2007 Atlantic hurricane season ends, NOAA explains why forecast was wrong
As the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season officially comes to a close on November 30, NOAA scientists are carefully reviewing a set of dynamic weather patterns that yielded lower-than-expected hurricane activity across the Atlantic basin. As a result, the United States was largely spared from significant landfalling storms. However several noteworthy events took place, including two back-to-back Category five hurricanes hitting Central America and the rapid near-shore intensification of the single US landfalling hurricane.
