Phoenix IT Group publishes interim Results for the six months ended 30 September 2007
- Revenue up 87.1 percent to £101.9m (2006: £54.4m)
- Like-for-like revenues, excluding the effect of acquisitions up 7.7 percent to £58.6m (2006: £54.4m)
- Profit before tax down 18 percent to £7.5m (2006: £9.2m)

Cyclone Sidr losses in Bangladesh estimated at $2.31 billion
Xinhua has reported that the economic loss from cyclone Sidr which hit the Bangladesh's southern and southwestern coastal areas is estimated at 2.31 billion US dollars.

Natural disasters escalating four-fold: Oxfam
Natural disasters have quadrupled over the last two decades, from an average of 120 a year in the early 1980s to as many as 500 today, says international agency Oxfam in a new report, Climate Alarm. There has been a six-fold increase in floods since 1980. The number of floods and wind-storms have risen from 60 in 1980 to 240 last year. Meanwhile the number of geothermal events, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, has stayed relatively static. Read the report.
