Menlo Worldwide wins New York City coastal storm plan contract
Menlo Worldwide, LLC, the global logistics subsidiary of Con-way Inc., has announced that it has been selected by the New York City Office of Emergency Management to warehouse and manage a large stockpile of emergency supplies that would be used in the event of a hurricane. Under the program, Menlo also would manage the distribution of relief supplies to storm shelters throughout the City in response to a large coastal storm. www.menloworldwide.com

Chertoff welcomes the appointment of Paul A. Schneider as DHS Acting Deputy Secretary
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has issued a statement in reaction to the announcement by President Bush of the intention to designate Paul A. Schneider as acting Deputy Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security. Chertoff welcomed the appointment, saying: “While acting as my deputy, Paul will serve as chief operating officer with responsibility for managing day-to-day operations of the department...He has the respect and admiration of staff and my full support. I am grateful for his service and look forward to his achievements in this capacity.”
