Easyspace to open 30,000 sq.ft City of London data centre
Easyspace, one of Europe’s largest hosting and managed service companies, has announced the opening of a new high specification Tier 3 data centre in the heart of the City of London. Constructed specifically for the purpose of large scale server hosting and colocation, the data centre offers a combined net 16,000 sq.ft of high quality, resilient and secure data centre space, across 4 separate data halls. World’s largest unclassified database of terror attacks now live online
The world’s largest unclassified database of terrorism attacks is now available online for general use by researchers, policy-makers, media and the general public – an important tool that the researchers say may aid in the development of more effective responses to terrorism. The ‘Global Terrorism Database’ was developed by START, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism based at the University of Maryland, with funding from the US Department of Homeland Security. http://www.start.umd.edu/data/gtd/

Avocent Corporation has announced that it has extended the flexibility of its DSView 3 management software platform for data centres, making IT infrastructure remotely manageable from handheld devices, such as a Blackberry. Major disasters declared for State of Rhode Island and State of Iowa
President Bush has issued two major disaster declarations:
- A major disaster exists in the State of Rhode Island in the area struck by severe storms and inland and coastal flooding during the period of April 15-16, 2007.
- A major disaster exists in the State of Iowa in the area struck by severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes during the period of May 5-7, 2007.
