HP selects CBL as Asia and Asia Pacific data recovery services partner
CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. has announced that it has been selected as the data recovery services partner for HP in Australia, China, India, Singapore and Taiwan. Under the terms of a marketing alliance, HP Service Centre and HP Contract Centre Agents will refer existing HP customers to CBL for data recovery services when hard drives, tapes and other storage media fail and data residing on these devices is inaccessible. www.cbltech.ca

Basel Committee issues paper on range of practice in Advanced Measurement Approaches
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has released a paper entitled ‘Observed range of practice in key elements of Advanced Measurement Approaches (AMA)’. The paper describes a cross-section of the practices supervisors have observed in relation to some of the key challenges in the operational risk-related work of banks targeting the AMA. http://www.bis.org/publ/bcbs131.htm

IBM reports 2006 third-quarter results
IBM today announced that third-quarter 2006 income from continuing operations was $2.2 billion compared with $1.5 billion in the third quarter of 2005, including the one- time charge, an increase of 47 percent. Income from continuing operations for the third quarter grew 9 percent compared with the third-quarter 2005 income from continued operations of $2.0 billion, excluding the one-time charge. Total revenues for the third quarter of 2006 of $22.6 billion increased 5 percent (4 percent, adjusting for currency) from the third quarter of 2005. Read press release

UK businesses get new pandemic guidance
The UK Cabinet Office has published introductory material on pandemic influenza for businesses and other organisations to raise awareness about pandemic influenza amongst employees. The advice was produced by the Cabinet Office in consultation with the Health Departments and with other government departments. Read the document.
