Identity theft is the topic of Global Security Week 2006
The second annual Global Security Week, a worldwide security awareness initiative, starts next Monday (September 4th to 10th) . Identity theft is this year's theme. Free awareness materials are available to download from the GlobalSecurityWeek.com website. Planned security awareness initiatives during Global Security Week this year include:
* Making American shoppers aware of identity theft through a series of grocery store presentations
* An identity theft seminar in Dublin, Ireland on September 7th, in conjunction with the Garda and ENISA
* The Regional Terrorism and Security Conference in Perth, Australia on September 8th
* Corporate awareness presentations in various organisations worldwide.

IBM to acquire Internet Security Systems
IBM and Internet Security Systems, Inc. have announced that the two companies have entered into a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire Internet Security Systems, Inc., a publicly held company based in Atlanta, Ga., in an all-cash transaction at a price of approximately $1.3 billion, or $28 per share. The acquisition is subject to Internet Security Systems, Inc. shareholder and regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.

BT member elected vice chair of MSPIE
Malcolm Page, head of global business development, government and defence for BT Global Services, has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Managed Services Providers Information Exchange for 2006-7 and chair elect for 2007-2008. The Managed Services Providers Information Exchange (MSPIE) consists of commercial organisations that supply IT services and security professional services to UK Critical National Infrastructure customers in the public and private sectors. State of Oregon chooses eBRP Toolkit
The State of Oregon, as part of its Enterprise Business Continuity Planning Program, has chosen eBRP Solutions Inc. to provide its business continuity planning tools. The state-wide selection initiative was led by the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) in a collaborative effort among many State agencies. As a result of the Enterprise BCP initiative, agencies will collaborate to establish an ongoing Enterprise BCP program using eBRP Solution’s Toolkit to develop a common BC planning framework, customized by Oregon from industry best practices. www.eBRP.net
