Update on power and water supply problems in Pakistan
Pakistan Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that all efforts are being made to overcome the energy crisis and that the current load shedding would end by December 2009. Lahore hit by bomb attacks
At least 24 people have died in two bomb attacks in Pakistan's city of Lahore. According to police sources, 20 persons were killed and 150 injured in a powerful blast at the FIA Office at Temple Road here, while four were killed in a blast in Model Town, where three persons were reported injured. It is suspected that the blast at the FIA Office was caused by a suicide bomber using a car loaded with explosive material. The explosion was so powerful that the FIA building was badly damaged while window panes of buildings in the surrounding area including the Mall were shattered. More details

Karachi slowly returning to normal after storm causes huge power outages
Monsoon rains and thunderstorms hit Karachi between 23rd and 24th June, causing many deaths and widespread power outages. KESC, the regional power supply company said that more than 700 feeders out of 1000 either broke down due to heavy rain or were shut down as preventive measures. Most of the feeders have been re-opened now but there are still some problems.
